Join us at "The Greenbrier" for the 3rd Annual WINTERBALL, January 24-27, 2008. DanceSport competitors will dance, dine and enjoy the grandeur of the two hundred year old estate. In the first quarter of 2007, The Greenbrier was closed while undergoing a fifty million dollar renovation. A new restaurant called the Hemisphere and a new lounge are part of the renovation along with many redecorated guest rooms, plasma screen TV's, a new relaxed dress code, and a new pet policy. The move from the Modified American Plan to the European Plan was made to allow guests the opportunity to dine where and how they want. The MAP dictated dinner in the off season, but only in the Main Dining Room which had the requirement of a jacket and tie for men. Since moving to the EP plan, The Greenbrier is allowing guests to choose where they want to dine. Magnificient lobbies, original works of art, and an array of more than 30 shops make leisure time pass all too quickly. An indoor pool, spa, and bowling lanes provide a variety of inside wintertime activities. (www.greenbrier.com) "The WinterBall" is definitely a destination competition. A 16,128 square foot ballroom provides ample room to accommodate dancers, spectators and exhibitors. Arrive Thursday afternoon for check-in, registration, a self-guided tour of the estate, an elegant dinner, and then an evening of competition at its best. Amateur dancer, Nancy O'Malley described The WinterBall as a "must attend" for all ballroom competitors and described The Greenbrier as being the "most elegant venue in the United States." Amateur couples, Pro/Am and Professional couples will compete for scholarship awards. More than $8,000 is offered in Top Teacher awards. Friday evening features Professional Smooth and International Latin competitions. Saturday night offers International Standard and American Rhythm as well as an exciting professional show. Each night after the competition, dancers and guests are invited to an "After Hours" party for free hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, dancing and socializing. You won't want to miss "The WinterBall" and we don't want to miss you being there!
